Vancouver Cyclocross Practices

Look at that! The first cyclocross race in Vancouver is in 3 weeks. Sure it may still be hot out, but now is the perfect time to dust of the cx bike (if you haven’t been riding it all summer anyway) and get some practice in. Luckily there is still plenty of time to hone those skills before the season starts. There are a few great resources in town to help you get in top form for that first callup. Regardless of if you are a seasoned racer or a beginner looking to enter your first race, the following should have enough to offer for everyone. Get out there on that bike because cross is coming!

James Birkenbuel and the VCXC folks are hosting a weekly cyclocross practice on Wednesday evenings at Queen Elizabeth park. They set up a course in the park and we do hot laps until our legs can’t take any more. If you think your summer of riding has you in good shape for cyclocross season, there is a good chance you are wrong. There is nothing like a few hard laps on a cross course to make you feel weak. Pointers are also given on shouldering, barriers, and any other areas that you might need help with. Come out and dial in those skills before the season gets underway. Info and updates are posted to the Facebook group: For more awesome pics from the practice, check out the photos from Fergus Horrobin:
