The sun is shining and we are heading into another weekend full of racing. A couple big ones going on this weekend, and unfortunately they all fall on the same date, so you gotta be choosy. The weather is looking great and it should be a good Sunday to get out and race. Here are the offerings
Vanier CX – Vancouver BC, Oct 2
It’s once again time for one of the biggest cyclocross events in Vancouver, the Vanier CX. This race draws a huge crowd and for good reason. Located in Kitsilano, Vanier park has the amazing backdrop of both the city and the coastal mountains. It’s a great venue for spectators, and easy to get to. The course is fun, flowy, and not terribly technical, so it lends itself well to those looking to give the sport a try for the first time. Best of all is the BBQ waiting for you near the finish line. Race, grab a burger, and then cheer on/heckle your friends in the next race. Pre-reg closes Friday night, so don’t delay: www.vcxc.ca
Expect the course to look something like this:

Tugboat Cross – Ladysmith, BC Oct 2
On the island, Cross on the Rock is hosting the Tugboat Cross at Transfer Beach in Ladysmith. This course was voted the crowd favourite in 2015 and for good reason. From the promoters:
It has got a lot to do with the actual venue. We don’t put any more leg work into the preparation than other races in the series, it’s the venue that makes it so special. It is tough to beat the ocean view and actually riding on the beach, the fast rolling grassy areas, the mature forested area and the over-all easy access location. Transfer Beach is a destination for good reason, and we are forever grateful that the town of Ladysmith allows us to show it off.

Westbank Cross – Westbank, BC – Oct 2
The interior has the Westbank Cross this Sunday. From the organizer: “Interior Cyclocross Race #6 is happening this Sunday and the course is gonna be a doozie! Expect lot’s of grass, straightaways, side-hills and an off-camber descent.”
Lots going on this weekend. Get out and race!
